Happy Thanksgiving!

Since today is Thanksgiving, I thought I'd share a simple message with you about what I'm thankful for and how things have been going.

If you're a writer, or even if you're interested in writing, you probably understand what I mean when I say that I am a "seasonal" creature. I tend to get more of my own writing done in the Fall and Winter than in the Summer. Even though that's the case, I always take a moment to reflect on what my personal goals are and what kind of progress I've made over the past year.

To be a creative person, means that you live your life on a roller coaster ride. Sometimes you get a story accepted, and you're riding high. Sometimes a contract falls through or a project gets postponed, and you're stomach falls through the floor. Regardless of what your personal journey might be, it's not always going to be an upward climb or a downward spiral. I experienced some setbacks this year that were unexpected that forced my little car into a twisting corkscrew.

However, being thrown for a loop (literally) is no excuse for not writing. I haven't written as much as I've wanted to, which is part of the reason why I'm shifting my focus for December. I'm still providing my guest posts, but will be on social media and my blog considerably less than I have been.

So what am I thankful for? Well, I'm appreciative of every rejection letter and every road bump I've had this year. As a firm believer in cause-and-effect, I believe that the path to success isn't something that happens overnight. There's a lot of winding twists and turns and I love every single minute of it.

Happy Thanksgiving!
