Hello! I wanted to pop in and share some Pride-related links you may not be aware of. If you’re keen on following my work, I’ll be sending another newsletter this week about my new class and other tidbits. On to Pride!
First off, Catherine Lundoff (Queen of Swords Press) and Melissa Scott curated a fifteen-book bundle for StoryBundle Pride 2022 that’s available through July 1st. Included in the bundle are novels and anthologies like Unfettered Hexes—plus you’re given an opportunity to donate a portion of the proceeds to Rainbow Railroad! This is a fantastic way to celebrate Pride Month!
Love books? The great news is that many publishers and blogs have curated lists and ways to help. BookRiot has an excellent article about the pride displays in libraries and fighting homophobia. If you’re into audiobooks, Audible has curated the best LGBTQIA+ audiobooks for Pride Month 2022. I’d also like to recommend Finna by Nino Cipri available on Audible and iTunes. It’s wicked multi-verse fun!
Wait, did you just say books aren’t your jam? I’d like to recommend shopping from queer-owned creators on Etsy. (The link points to queer-owned creators curated by Etsy.) I especially liked Fabulous Feminist and many of their sayings. I picked up this dumpster fire magnet which reads: “Just trying to make some magic in this dumpster fire world.”
For charity-based donations, Catherine was kind enough to recommend Give OUT Day. It's a US-based fundraising event that raised over $1.9 million last year for LGBTQIA+ nonprofit organizations and only takes place during Pride Month. Concerned about trans rights for kids? The Trevor Project is a global organization that's committed to their health, safety, and rights and accepts donations year-round.
